Telecom industry is in a state of turmoil right now. Last week the three major telecom giants in the country – Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio – announced a hike in their prepaid plans. While Airtel announced a 42 per cent hike in its plans, Jio increased its tariff by 40 per cent while maintaining that it would remain “comitted to the ultimate interest of the customer”. Now a week later, both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have lifted the FUP limit on the voice calls for all of their unlimited calls.

The first telecom giant to remove the FUP limit on its data plans was Airtel, which announced the news via its official Twitter handle. The company announced that it was removing the FUP limit on voice calls for all unlimited prepaid plans. This means all the prepaid users who have subscribed to Airtel’s Rs 148 plan, Rs 248 plan, Rs 598 plan, Rs 698 plan, Rs 1498 plan or Rs 2398 plan will be able to make voice calls to other networks without paying any additional charges when their FUP limit expires.
