When the Philadelphia Eagles hired Doug Pederson as head coach in 2016, general manager Howie Roseman played a significant role in hiring Frank Reich as offensive coordinator and Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator. Reports suggest Judge will be allowed to hire his own staff, but the Giants would be wise to follow Roseman and the Eagles’ blueprint.
Reich had previous play calling experience and proved instrumental in helping Pederson develop game plans and script the first 15 plays in late night meetings the night before games. Schwartz’s head coaching experience was also helpful in allowing Pederson to focus almost exclusively on the offense and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.
