IOA comes up with white paper to resume sports activities post lockdown

NEW DELHI: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has come up with a ‘white paper’ to restart sports activities at the earliest and intensify the country’s preparations for the Tokyo Olympics and other international competitions in a “protected atmosphere” once the nationwide lockdown is lifted by the central government. The government has extended the third phase of the countrywide lockdown until May 17 to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

The white paper titled “Resumption of sport in India Covid-19 scenario” and prepared by IOA president Narinder Dhruv Batra after a detailed research talks about holding discussions with concerned stakeholders which include the athletes, coaches, medical staff and recovery experts, high-performance support personnel, match officials, central government, including public health professionals, ministry of youth affairs and sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), state sport authorities, sponsors, including NGOs, media, fans and sports administrators and prepare and roadmap for the resumption of sports activities, training and eventually competitions in the current scenario.
