The DTH sector is currently preparing to offer as many benefits as possible to tackle the possible incoming threat from Jio’s upcoming TV service. Hence, all major players such as Dish TV, Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV and Hathway have been offering a lot of benefits than before. Tata Sky recently went ahead to reduce the price of its set-top boxes in order to generate more interest from prospective subscribers. Following on the footsteps, Airtel has also introduced a similar plan for its own set-top boxes.
Similar to Tata Sky, Airtel has slashed prices on its set-top boxes across the country. The price cut is applicable on the high-end set-top boxes. The basic HD set-top box, which generally used to cost Rs 1,953, is now available for Rs 1,453, thereby getting an overall price reduction of Rs 500.
